After colouring your hair you want to protect your beautiful new colour. What is the best way to make it last? Here are some tips on how to make sure you get the most out of your at-home hair colouring experience!

Things you should do before colouring your hair:
Before colouring your hair make sure to condition your hair deeply for a week. This will help the colouring ‘grab’ onto your hair strands, prevents discoloration and fading of the colour in the first few weeks.
Don’t wash your hair 24 hours before colouring. The natural oils of your scalp protects your hair when it gets coloured.
When rinsing out the dye make sure to wash the hair in cold water. This will help keep the colour longer. This is also a good everyday-tip when you wash your hair.

Tips to make the colour last longer:
Make sure you have a colour treated shampoo and conditioner. They are more moisturising and conditioning than regular hair products. Once a week leave the shampoo in for five minutes to make sure the hair absorbs it. We recommend NATURIGIN colour care.
Don’t wash your hair too often. Try to wash it only 3-4 times a week. If you wash your hair too often your colour will fade.
Avoid too much exposure to sunlight. The UV rays can dry out your hair colour and make it look dull and lifeless. Use a UV protective conditioner if you plan on staying out for long.
Avoid Chemicals. If you go swimming, the chlorine from pools and hot tubs will also discolour your hair. To lessen the effect of chlorine put it up in a bun before swimming and make sure to wash your hair first so the hair is already soaked in water without chemicals.

We hope these simple tips will help you make your beautiful colour last even longer!
